Helpful tips on keeping your ukulele in top shape

Ukulele Body parts - Ukulele Kids

Ukuleles are made of quality wood therefore it is important to take good care of them no matter if you use the instrument on a regular basis or not too often.

The following tips are meant to provide some guidance for young ukulele players.

  • Always store the uke in a cool and dry place. The ideal temperature to store it is about 25 C.
  • Avoid exposing the uke directly to the sun to prevent damage.
  • If you decide not to play the uke for a period of time, it is recommended to loosen the strings. If the strings remain stretched for a long time, damage to the neck could occur.
  • Always place the uke in its proper case. If your case is made of nylon, the easiest way to put the uke inside is by following these steps:
  1. Open the case zipper
  2. Hold one side of the zippered end of the case with one hand.
  3. Grab the uke at the bottom/wide end with the other hand.
  4. Feed the uke into the bag head and neck first.
  5. Make sure the strings are on the same side of the bag as the letters.

Also, our songbooks have been designed to fit nicely in the uke case.

Lastly, close the zipper and store it in a safe place.
